At Chicken City Ale Raisers (CCAR), we believe in brewing together, learning together, and having a blast along the way. Whether it's our monthly hangouts or our big annual bashes, there's always something exciting brewing. Check out what makes our events the heart and soul of the club!
When: Second Monday of every month at 7 PM
Where: Varies—breweries, homes, or wherever good beer flows!
Who: Everyone is welcome!
Our monthly meetings are where the magic happens. Here's what you can expect:
The Rundown: A quick 30-minute chat about club news, upcoming events, and planning sessions.
Beer Tastings: Members share their latest homebrews or commercial favorites while providing (or receiving) feedback.
Brew Duels: Sometimes, we spice things up with head-to-head brew-offs where Raisers compete for the coveted "bragging rights" title.
Food & Fun: The host provides food, and everyone brings something to share (homebrew or commercial beer is highly encouraged).

These are the big ones—the events every Raiser looks forward to each year.
Teach a Friend to Brew Day (November)
Our chance to show the world the joys of brewing! We come together as a club to brew side by side and teach beginners the ropes. Whether you're a newbie or an experienced brewer, it's a fantastic day to learn, share, and brew something amazing.
National Homebrew Day (May)
Another club-wide brew day that brings all Raisers together. It’s the perfect opportunity to see how others brew and learn new tips and tricks. Plus, there’s nothing better than the smell of hops in the air when multiple brewing systems are running.
Oktoberfest (September)
This is our biggest event of the year—the CCAR Cup is on the line! Members compete with the same recipe, and certified BCJP judges crown the winner. The prize? The honor of choosing the next year's style. Families and friends are invited for a night of beer, sausages, and celebration.
Bonus Event: The week before Oktoberfest, we hold Sausage-Making Night, where members prepare the perfect brats and sausages for the big day.
Christmas Party (December)
The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without our annual Christmas bash. Families, friends, and festive brews come together for a holiday-themed People’s Choice competition. It's cozy, cheerful, and packed with incredible beers.
Are you up for the challenge? Brew Duels are where Raisers pit their brewing skills against each other in good-spirited competition. Here’s how it works:
Open to All: Any Raiser can challenge another member—or even form teams (1v1, 2v2, etc.).
Guidelines: The club sets the style and rules for each duel.
Learning Opportunity: Brew Duels are a great way to brew with others, see different brewing styles, and learn about new systems.
Rules: Check out the full rules here.
May the best beer win!
